Transcript:

Hello, welcome to another episode of In The Studio With Calamity Jane. My name is Jodi, also known as Calamity Jane.

Our purpose with this series is to highlight amazing women in our community, and give them the spotlight for a moment.

Joining me today is Tamikah McCluney Eaddy, with America's Best Bakers. Thanks for being on the show today, Tamikah.

[Tamikah]: Thanks for having me.

Tell us a little bit about your business.

I'm a global event planner, so my company is called BKS Global Event Planning. I started the company about six years ago.

I travel around the United States, giving home-based bakers and small business owners a platform to showcase their brands and their skills to the world.

How did you come to get this started?

Ever since I was younger, I always had get-togethers at my house, always. So I was like the party planner. I could just throw something together, whether it was cooking and having people over, people always had to be at my house. It's just a passion, just doing something and putting together events, and being around people all the time.

What do you feel makes you successful?

My customer service skills make me very successful. My smile is very contagious, so people can literally walk up to me just off of my smile. I can talk to anyone, it doesn't matter where I am, in the grocery store, in the car... It doesn't matter.

I'm very big on customer service. I put out what I expect to get back.

What one piece of advice would you give to maybe a young girl watching this or an upcoming entrepreneur who's maybe just getting started?

When you're going to pursue your dreams, in our heads it's very, very easy. What you wanna do is stay focused. You are gonna have difficult times, all the time.

You're gonna have it all mapped out, and you're gonna fail. You are gonna fail. But what you don't wanna do is never give up. Never give up.

I don't care how many no's you get, how bad it gets, go for it. A lot of people have dreams, and a lot of people are very successful behind those dreams. But they never gave up.

Do not give up on yourself. 'cause you are worth it.

And now, the famous questionnaire that was asked for 26 years by the great Bernard Pivot and made famous on In The Actors Studio:

What is your favorite word?

Really! Really is my favorite word, I'll have to say really.

What is your least favorite word?

No. I do not like that word at all. No, it doesn't matter where it comes from. I don't like that word though.

What turns you on creatively, emotionally, or spiritually?

The ability to be able to prove people wrong. When people doubt you, to be able to prove them wrong.

What turns you off?

Laziness. Just being lazy. That's like mm-mm. Just laziness is the biggest turn off. Laziness.

What is your favorite curse word?

Shit! My absolute favorite curse word is shit I promise.

<laughter>

What sound or noise do you love?

My kids, laughing and playing, My kids.

What sound or noise do you hate?

Ooh, the creepy country sounds, like the crickets outside. Not a country type of person. I need cars and buses.

What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt?

Finance. I did banking for 10 years, and I was in management, so finance.

What profession would you not like to do, like ever?

Serving again, 'cause oh. That is the hardest job, serving. Smiling all the time, being happy all the time, even when your food tastes absolutely horrible, I'm so sorry, I'll fix that for you. Like serving is the hardest... No, no more, I couldn't do that again.

If Heaven exists what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

I'm so proud of you, and all you've accomplished. You made me proud.

[Jodi]: Thanks for being on the show today, Tamikah.

[Tamikah]: Thank you so much for having me, it was a blast.

Thank you for watching. Join us for the next edition of In the Studio with Calamity Jane, where we put another amazing woman from Las Vegas in the spotlight.
